What’s AFTAS? AFTAS is acronym for Association of Fast Track
Accounting Students. It’s an organization formed for the purpose of providing
activities to students especially those who take accountancy course in Puncak
Perdana. Besides come out with lots of events, AFTAS also provide chances for
the committee to develop themselves and polish their talents in program
managing area. Most of the events are held in faculty or students’
accommodation while some of them held outside.
Proudly said, I am the president of this organization B) Haha, atleast
until today. Why? Because tonight, there will be an Annual General Meeting (AGM). An event that will nominate new president. So by the end of the day, I’m going
to hand out the title, together with responsibilities to one of the three
candidates.
Back then, it all started after I and my classmate attended
‘Jamuan Raya’ held by Komandar Kesatria. That night my friends asked if I would
like to join AFTAS. Why would I join AFTAS?
Fast track, is not a normal track.
The people here, they are not normal. Here, I live in the environment that packed
with intelligent students whose majority were the best in their previous schools.
My friends, or I like to address them as competitors, they are outstanding. Living
in this community, I felt that I’m not competence enough to challenge them. I
must do something.
So that night, I went to AFTAS interview and manage to get
accepted by them. Surprisingly, I was chosen as one of the candidates to
replace our former president, Nik Hajar Nabila. More surprisingly, last year,
at the very same hall as tonight’s venue, I was given a trust to carry the
title of president. Despite felt scared for the responsibilities that I need to fulfill,
I convinced myself this is an opportunity God gave me to improve myself. There must be hikmah for this.
A year has passed.
The journey that I experienced, are hardly described by
words. All the events that AFTAS has come out with are impossible to be held if
I didn’t get support from my teammates. For AFTAS committee, it has been fascinating
meeting all of you, buddy. We shared joy and tears. You have been like brothers and
sisters to me. Each of you does has unique
talents and I‘m sure there are tons of them that still hidden. Perhaps due to my
weaknesses, I’m not fully utilized your expertise and capabilities. Therefore, I
would like to express my deepest apologize for not making AFTAS the best
platform to test out your true potential. Keep strike for the excellent. Don’t let that stars inside you lose the light, polish and turn each
of them into as bright as the Sun.
To deputy dean of students’ affairs, Prof Madya Dr Rohaya, you
treat students like your own children. You have been like a mother to me. Thank you for your undivided guidance and
support throughout my journey.
As for AFTAS new generation, there will be lots of obstacles waiting ahead. My advice? Be firm and and stay strong. View them as challenges and turn each of it into stepping stone in your journey towards improving yourselves. Support your president throughout up and down. Don’t let him/her alone. Be a backbone for him/her.
Finally, to future president, be a better leader than the
previous. "The great leader is those who can create better predecessor than himself." So, make me a great leader, surpass me! Make AFTAS a platform that will produce more leaders and make this
organization become respected. May the best candidate wins!
THANKS.
